The hugely-popular Apico 2-Stroke Festival, featuring the Red Bull Pro-Stroke National, the final of the Fastest 40, and four ACU British Championships, returns to Sellindge in Kent this weekend with a two-day celebration of all things motocross on Saturday and Sunday the 17th and 18th of August.
In a major boost for British motocross, the team behind the Red Bull Pro Stroke National has joined forces with the promoters of the Fastest 40 in a collaboration that will see the series’ Pro and Amateur classes merge into one weekend of epic racing, where titles will be clinched. Conrad Mewse is the Fastest 40 Pro MX1 Champion – can Tommy Searle take the MX2 crown? Find out at Sellindge!
The 2024 edition of the Red Bull Pro Stroke National will see more Pro riders on the start line than ever before. They’re competing for substantial prize money, and all competitors will be at the top of their game as they fight for big money, points and prizes.
British 125cc Showdown
The official ACU Apico 2-Stroke Festival British 125cc 2-Stroke Championship has been running under the umbrella of the annual Kent-based Apico 2-Stroke Festival since the event’s inception back in 2017. Earlier this year, the Festival team collaborated with the Fastest 40 to increase the reach of the series. Five rounds of the championship have taken place alongside the Fastest 40 Championship, while the finals will be a Saturday/Sunday double header at the Apico 2-Stroke Festival. Heading into the Festival, Josh Vail leads the combined championship on 238 points ahead of Jamie Keith on 216 and Matt Bayliss on 172.
Points mean Prizes for Festival Youngsters
The Festival will see young competitors in the 65cc, 85cc and 125cc classes competing for glory on the same professionally sculpted and challenging track as the Pro riders race.
For the 2024 2-Stroke Festival, title partner Apico Factory Racing is offering a substantial £2500 Rider Support package across the 65cc, 85cc and both 125cc groups. Four individual riders will be selected and rewarded with a visit to the Apico Factory Racing HQ shortly after the Festival. In addition, Apico vouchers will be gifted throughout the classes to try and support as many young riders as possible to give everyone a chance to win something.
Roll up for Red Bull Clubman MX1 & MX2
Clubmen of all shapes, sizes and skills have entered this exciting class at the Kent-based event. It’s a class that typifies the all-encompassing nature of the Festival. With extensive appeal across novice, vets and expert groups, the grass roots element of the Red Bull Clubman MX1 and MX2 races has always attracted riders of mixed abilities. It gives club/track day riders the chance to experience the professional style of racing at the Festival, and to soak up the atmosphere with friends, families and likeminded riders. Many of whom may never have actually raced but have used venues such as Sellindge as a practice track.
Noughties Time
The sound, the smell, the vibe … the Red Bull Noughties offers an intoxicating cocktail that mixes old-school 2-stroke racing with modern-day technology, and fun. A key element of the weekend is the classic Red Bull Noughties class, which runs on both Saturday and Sunday. It’s a unique class of hard-working riders and machines delivering the sound of 2-stroke motocross machines from the glory years of 2000-2008 for riders aged 25-years and over.
Have a go for Novice riders
In addition to the flat-out racing on the main track, the second track at Sellindge MX will be turned over for a spot of something different, with races for wanna-be Pros from the age of just three years on balance bikes, and bar-bashing pit bike racing for adult riders. There’ll also be an interactive village set up, offering tryout sessions for novice riders of all ages and enabling them to get a taste of the joys of motocross.
